Local Dams - Hillside through the years
Dams initially built in 1898 on 86 acres,
owned by a private company, and were the principal source of water for
Bulawayo until the late 1920's when Khami dam was built in 1928 and then
lower Ncema in 1943. The dams were sold to the Bulawayo Town Council in
1924 for £ 117,000.
There has been much conservation activity in restoring the
natural habitat, fences, aloe planting, bush clearance by may local
residents.
